Sources 2 Script Development Workshops

Sources 2 in Berlin-Brandenburg 2018

We are proud to announce our Sources 2 Script Development Workshop in Berlin-Brandenburg,  realised with the support of Creative Europe MEDIA, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, and MFG Filmförderung Baden-Württemberg, and in cooperation with Französische Filmtage Tübingen l Stuttgart and Creative Europe MEDIA Desk Berlin-Brandenburg.

The seven-day session will be held in Brandenburg/Germany, 12 – 20 April 2018. The venue will be Schloss Ziethen, a castle located near Berlin.

Participants, mentors and guest lecturers will be nationals from Argentina, Austria, Colombia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, US..

Seventeen feature film and creative documentary projects have been selected for participation. During the seven-day session in Brandenburg writers, directors and producers will develop their feature film projects and receive professional training. Participants will work in four groups led by Miguel Machalski (Spain/Argentina), Eric Collins (France), Michael Seeber (Austria) and Gualberto Ferrari (France/Argentina). The workshop will be followed by a coached three-month re-writing period and a follow-up session.

Berlinale Co-Production Market will be represented by Kathi Bildhauer at our Producers’ Table on Friday, 13 April 2018.

Cristian Mungiu – Sources of Inspiration
Our guest of honour, the internationally awarded Romanian writer/director will speak about his specific intellectual and practical approach as a writer and director – his individual 'sources of inspiration!' The lecture will be preceded by his recent feature film Graduation (Romania 2016, Best Director at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, a.o.). The event will be followed by a reception.

Karol Griffiths – Creative Strategies
The script editor, development consultant and mentor will guide a hands-on session focusing on the writing process: Voice Creates Character – Character Creates Plot… Karol will introduce a powerful approach to finding one’s deep, authentic voice and activating the creative process. Her 20-year experience in the US and in Europe includes work with the Coen Brothers and Steven Spielberg, for Warner Brothers, Universal, and Disney Studios; recent credits include the BBC Writers Room and The Literacy Consultancy London.

Ludger Pfanz – Future Narratives
The German filmmaker and digital pioneer will focus on The DNA of Immersive Storytelling: Virtual reality and new immersive media is able to effectively blur the line between reality and illusion, pushing the limits of our imagination and opening new fields for screenwriters and storytellers. But how can we tell stories in space? How can we create story-worlds with an active and interacting audience. In the lecture we will provide an insight into artistic space-time-experiences and combine them with dramaturgy to show ways toward space-time-narratives. Ludger is head and founder of Expanded Cinema 3Digital Laboratory, 3D Alliance Karlsruhe and the festival BEYOND. The event will be followed by networking reception for participants and local film professionals hosted by Christopher Buchholz, Französische Filmtage Tübingen l Stuttgart.
