Workshop in Bavaria/Germany
Guests: Tue Steen Müller, Ludo Smolski, Paul Tyler

We are proud to announce Sources 2 Projects & Process – Training Mentors for European Screenwriters and Filmmakers 2018, taking place in Bavaria for the third time! The workshop will be realised with the support of Creative Europe MEDIA and FFF – FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. Our cooperation partner is Creative Europe Desk München.

The session will be held in Herrsching at Lake Ammersee, 21 – 26 September 2018. The venue will be Haus der bayerischen Landwirtschaft Herrsching where everyone will be accommodated.

Internationally acclaimed Sources 2 advisers Louise Gough (Australia), Arash T. Riahi (Austria/Iran) and Miguel Machalski (Spain/Argentina) will guide through the workshop sessions for colleagues who wish to expand and refine their approach and methods as mentors, experience the Sources 2 projects and process philosophy and improve their skills in transferring knowledge, encouraging creative processes, enhancing efficient communication and productive collaboration. During the following two months participants are invited to stay in touch with each other and the advisers, exchanging experience and receiving mutual advice. Sources 2 Projects & Process will be concluded with a round-off two months after the session in Herrsching.

Eighteen highly qualified professionals have been selected for participation. The workshop will assemble participants, mentors and guests from Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iran, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

Rolf Orthel – Reflections
The Dutch documentary filmmaker, producer, mentor and Sources 2 chairman will open the workshop with a speech based on his long-time experience as a mentor:
Re-inventing Beauty

Paul Tyler – Creative Tools
Applying his concept Handling Ideas, the consultant and mentor from the United Kingdom will provide creative tools and illuminate new approaches in a case study.

Tue Steen Müller – Documentary
The Danish documentary consultant and critic will present case studies revealing specifics when mentoring documentary filmmakers and share his experience as a mentor.

Open Lecture!
The programme includes an event open to local professionals:

Ludo Smolski – Mentor’s Approaches
The British development consultant and script editor will lecture about script development practice from the mentor’s viewpoint, based on his 20-year work experience in the field:
Making Development Work – resolving the conflict between logic and emotion in the development process
It all starts with the script, but how do you approach the task of developing it? Screenwriting is a skilful art that requires patience, organisation and a lot of dedication, so how can the writer be best served to keep the project moving forward? What defines good script development practice (and bad), and what are the tools needed to help a project across the finish line?
Ludo’s lecture will be followed by a networking reception for participants and local film professionals hosted by Creative Europe Desk München.
